The deposit has been described by Parks. The rock is a finely laminated, pink, grey, and white biotite gneiss of sedimentary origin.

Mill Lake was a major part of the lumber industry in Parry Sound, Ontario. A sawmill built at the mouth of the river in 1857 was one of the first industries in the area, and which later led to the founding of the town of Parry Sound. The river was also used to float down the logs cut in the forests surrounding what is now known as Mill Lake.

Mill Lake is located just east of Parry Sound Ontario on the east side of the bridge that crosses the Seguin River at Hwy. 400 co-ordinates: Lat. 45° 22′ 10″ Long. 79° 59′ 50″ the Seguin River flows into the lake on the north end and exits on the southwest side on its way to Georgian Bay.
